I won’t bore you with how freaky it is how fast time flies. It feels like it was only yesterday that I was writing last month’s recap… Yeah, yeah. But seriously, time is bloody merciless, isn’t it? Haha, I have a new recap for you related to all the things I’ve been loving the past month. I’ve tried out – and fallen in love with – a lot of new things, which is a little unusual for a creature of habit like me. But I plan on getting used to it.
Allll the healthy snacks.
First things first: FOOD. Rice cakes are having a big moment in my life. I recently came across a brand named Kallo, and have been completely obsessed with their rice cakes (check out how cute their packaging is!). I’ve been snacking on their buckwheat super-seeds multigrain cakes with hazelnut butter and some mushed raspberries – so good!
I’m also loving Kallo’s Belgian Dark Chocolate rice cake thins (and the ones topped with dried orange pieces). They make the best snack! I love them because they’re super tasty without being crazy addictive – I can have one at a time and feel satisfied whenever I need a little pick-me-up during the day.
As far as office snacks go, my go-to have been these Nakd Nibbles. They’re little nibbles made from all-natural, minimal, and vegan ingredients, and are sweet thanks to dates (no added sugar or syrup). My favorites have been the Mint Humbug and Tooty Fruity flavors.
If you’re in Lebanon and are wondering where you can find all these snacks, I pick them up at Black Pepper in ABC Dbayeh.
Earlier in March, I finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. In Emma Watson’s interview with Malala Yousafzai (watch it here), they both mentioned how much they loved this book. It also came highly recommended by a friend at work. Once I picked it up, I could barely put it down. It’s a beautiful and moving story covering the intersecting lives of two women in Afghanistan. It was a gripping read that surpassed my already high expectations.
I also read Love, Rosie (that one they based a movie on featuring the gorgeous Lily Collins and charming Sam Claflin). I usually don’t go for lighter and more romantic stories, but I was in the mood to de-stress with a fun book for a change. It was really entertaining and sweet. It hit all the right notes, being funny, relatable, and kinda inspirational! If you’re looking for a light read that still has some meaning, then check this one out.
I randomly checked the app store one day this week and saw that there was a brand new release of The Five Minute Journal app. I have a physical copy of the journal and absolutely love it – but I’ve been having a lot of trouble being consistent with it. I downloaded the app on a whim, and immediately fell in love with its usability. It has a beautiful, simplistic design. The app still includes a daily inspirational quote, and the classic morning and evening sections from the physical journal. It also allows you to enter a photo of the day, which is a fun extra if you’d like to document some special moments that way. It’s super clean-looking and easy to use, and I love that you can set reminders for the morning and evening. I never thought I’d become a digital kind of girl, but having an app like this on my phone makes it a lot easier to stay committed to jotting down my intentions and the things I’m grateful for. You can download The Five Minute Journal app on iOS.
I have acne-prone skin – and I love it (not). I have a pretty solid skin care routine down, but was missing a face mask for that extra oomph. I recently started using the Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque twice a week, which packs a lot of punch in the cleansing department without drying out my skin. I find that it makes a real difference in how my skin feels and looks, and is the perfect way to wash off a long day.
What have you been loving? I’d love to hear any of your book, snack, or skin care recommendations.
